I'd like to share a suggestion made by bandito2 in the Shoutbox.
...short ride down Rockhouse road to 302 then 221 into Berryvile then 65 back to Comfort Inn....It would be good for that introductory ride somebody was suggesting. It starts slow and twisty on Rockhouse road, then picks up with more open road 302 & 221 then higher speed highway on 65 (still only 55 mph though)... The traffic was light, except for 62 of course. I said 65 before, but meant 62.

This is a great idea. I have 2 of the rides planned for next year already - however I don't have the poker run figured out yet. For the longer Thursday ride, I have 2 different routes planned since it will be a longer ride like we did this year. I'm planning on taking off a section of the route so that the last 2 groups can still finish in a decent amount of time. I'll be sharing more soon and posting links to the rides as I plan them out, but I'm focusing on south to southeast of Eureka Springs for this years rides.
The biggest take away I had from this years rally is that there were a lot of new riders to the rally. Not necessarily to their own scooters, but to riding in groups, and to the roads in the area. I discussed with Roy what he thought about doing a ride Wednesday evening as a shorter ride with instruction to help get new riders to the rally use to the roads and riding in groups so that when the longer rides come on Thursday they can enjoy them instead of feeling nervous and learning along the way. Your suggested route above might work perfect for this.
Glad to have you for our ride coordinator for STO 2014, Kyle.
The suggestion for the introductory ride was posted in the Shoutbox by Mike, bandito2 We have ridden this same route as well and agree it is a very nice short ride. Lance is planning to have the parade on Wednesday morning (at 10 I think), so there will be plenty of time after the parade for this ride.

Glad to be able to pass the baton to a capable leader. Rockhouse road would be a very good learning spot as we had talked about. I would suggest if this is an introductory ride for new(er) riders that we go from Eureka Springs down Rockhouse road all the way to the church parking lot just barely in Berryville then turn around and return the way we came. 221 and Rockhouse road are both lightly traveled roads and in my opinion it would be better to keep new riders off of 62 for the crash course in not crashing.
On this map, point A is Comfort (Quality) Inn and point B is the church parking lot I referred to. goo.gl/maps/u0lSC
I wanted to check with you for what is scheduled for Wednesday after the parade. I'm planning on having a "new rider class" on Wednesday afternoon for all that are either new to the rally or new to riding in groups.
The plan is to have groups of 4 new riders with 2 experienced riders (one leading and one in the back) to take the new riders down rock house road and then to 302/221 into Berryville and back the same route. We'll give them pointers before we leave the hotel, and then make observations and stop half way through in Berryville to tell them what we observed so they can practice it on the way back.
The ultimate goal is to have new riders get familiar with riding in groups and some of the twisties they will experience on the roads in AR so that they can enjoy the Thursday & Friday rides and not be learning this during those rides.
Depending on how many new riders we have will determine how many groups we will need to get together for this course. I would plan just over an hour for each one.
